![]() OT: tech demo is cool, kinda sad story, was wondering when it would show up after the CEDEC talk, glad there's a cgworld feature on it. It's wild but it's not really helped when you have even DigitalFoundry talking about how Luminous Engine just fundamentally results in worse games because of the Engine itself and not, yknow, doing the research to acknowledge any other extraneous factors. Or heck, people looking at a tech demo that's not meant to push raw graphical fidelity and do the same thing. Leading this endeavor is the creation of a next-generation game engine aimed. ![]() The engine was developed for and targeted at eighth-generation hardware and DirectX 11-compatible platforms, such as Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and versions of Microsoft. The above survey asks if you would like to see more of this world/character. It's even more apparent when you look at how fast the performance improvements were made post launch. Luminous Engine (, Ruminasu Engine), originally called Luminous Studio (, Ruminasu Sutajio), is a multi-platform game engine developed and used internally by Square Enix. Like there's a reason people are apprehensive about CDPR shifting to UE for future cyberpunk games.īut we'll always have launch compressed youtube screencaps as some evidence for why "Luminous Engine is garbage" and not, idk, the fact that the team is a fraction of the size of those on other major AAA projects, that they did extensive long-term support work for XVI during Forspoken's development, that they put out PC and console versions day and date, that they had a director leave mid development and the game had to have radical changes and rewrites versus its original concept, etc. ![]() I have no faith that the PC version of Rebirth is going to be a particularly good experience either after the Remake fiasco. Ghostwire, Star Wars, Terf Wizard Shit, whatever. We have more than enough examples at this point to suggest that an UE game aiming for the same thing would probably also be far less performant and plagued with traversal stutters. That's not something you're getting even from FFXVI, for comparison, with its absolutely ass performance mode and associated shit resolution targets. Like Forspoken is a reasonably technically impressive massive open world game with fast traversal and combat that can feature upwards of dozens of enemies at a time at points, and it runs at a mostly locked 60 fps on console and higher on PC if you want.
